EPA Update
Hi Friends,
After 10 years on the EPA’s National Priorities List, we finally have a decision on the Wappinger Creek cleanup plan. The EPA has selected Option 4, the complete approach that many of us requested during the public comment period.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to send an email and make your voice heard! Community participation is an important part of local government.
Looking to What’s Next
With a full cleanup approved, the EPA will be investing almost $90 million in the safety of the Wappinger Creek. This includes removing contaminated soil and sediment, transporting it to an approved off-site facility, and restoring the affected areas with clean soil.
Now we can look forward to a safer, healthier environment around Wappinger Creek. Together, we made a difference for each other, future residents, and visitors to the Creek.
